Transcendent Sensation (2018)

Transcendent Sensation is a triptych of light boxes contemplating the future topography of our Planet Earth. How will the geology of our ‘Blue (and green) Planet’ evolve as a result of its new materiality? How will pollution form new layers in the geosphere? What will be the new astronaut's-eye-view of our atmosphere? Will hardy organisms bioremediate the earth to restore it to a neo-natural state? Will we experience a strange and conflicting sense of the sublime as blue planet geology hybridise into an extreme techno-cultural construct?

This piece was exhibited as part of Cosmic Perspectives, co-produced by Ugly Duck, myself and Hannah Pratt. The exhibition took it’s thematic cue from the ‘overview effect’ experienced by astronauts as they view Earth from space. Bermondsey May 2018.
